Call-ups 2026 start - Call-up Information Day pilot also launched
17 Aug. - 15 Dec. 2026, call-ups in accordance with the Conscription Act will be organised by the Defence Forces regional offices. This year, male citizens born in 2008 will be summoned. In addition to call-ups, the Defence Forces is involved in organising a Call-up Information Day pilot 17-year old students in secondary education in August - September in Espoo, Iisalmi and Jyväskylä.
The call-ups organised by the Defence Forces regional offices will be attended by approximately 38 000 persons liable for call-ups at 245 localities. Anyone from a previous year’s call-up ordered to be re-examined and those who failed to attend their call-up without a legal justification are also obligated to attend a call-up.
What happens at the call-up?
At the call-up, call-up candidates’ fitness for military service will be determined based on which a decision will be made regarding their military service. At the call-up, call-up candidates receive information about conscription and the Defence Forces, and meet the Call-up Board. All call-up candidates are invited to express their wishes to the Call-up Board regarding their military service. The training gained by you in your civilian life and the things you are interested in are things that you could try to include and capitalise on in your military service, if possible.
At the call-up, the participants will be informed on what date and at which service location they are expected to start their military service. However, the length of your service time and your service task will not be decided until you are already in service, towards the end of the branch training phase.
You will find the time and place of your call-up in a call-up letter sent to your home address and in the call-up notices posted on the Intti.fi website. If a person liable for call-up, for some reason, is unable to attend his call-up, he must contact his regional office and make an agreement with them on how to fulfill his call-up obligation.

To get prepared for your call-up, think about your wishes and goals for your military service. You can take a look at various service tasks, service locations and other contents relevant for future conscripts in advance in the Defence Forces MyMilitary service.
Those interested in special operations forces and other tasks included on a list of specific tasks that have to be applied for through the special application process should note that the MyMilitary online service provides a separate application process for applying for those tasks. You may apply for tasks also after the call-up and determination of your service unit. However, if you already know which particular task you are interested in, don’t hesitate to say so at the call-up. Youth work present at the call-up
At the call-up, Defence Forces personnel, municipal authorities and youth workers are there to meet young people and discuss with them. Call-ups play a socially important role, because they represent a chance to reach the male age group once more. At the call-up, the young people are given an opportunity to discuss their life situation confidentially with personnel of Outreach Youth Work. Call-up Information Day will be piloted at three localities
The Defence Forces is actively involved in the development of the call-up system. This autumn, a Call-up Information Day intended for 17-year old students in secondary studies will be piloted in Espoo, Iisalmi and Jyväskylä. The goal of the Information Day is to provide information to young people about national defence, conscription, comprehensive security and activities which support wellness, and increase their understanding of conscription and women’s voluntary military service. A Call-up Information Day provides information that helps to get ready for Call-ups and military service.
The pilot is under preparation by the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Education and Culture, Ministry of Employment and Economy, the Defence Forces and the National Defence Training Association, NDTA in cooperation with training providers involved in the pilot. Training providers institutions are in charge of organising the events and providing information to students.
In 2026, Call-up Information Days will be held in Espoo from 13 Aug to 7 September, in Jyväskylä on 27 August and Iisalmi on 16 September.
